I believe that throughout his film Fast, Cheap And Out of Control, director Errol Morris is attempting to shake the viewers of their complacency concerning animal issues and what constitutes an animal. Morris’ film consists of interviews with four men: A lion tamer, a topiary gardener, a mole rat scientist, and a robotics engineer. Through their interviews and the disorienting nature of the film, Morris reflects on the complicated relationship between humans and animals. One of Morris’ observations is that while claiming to care for animals, many still mistreat them. I believe the best example of this from the film is the lion tamer George Hoover.
