The film exemplifies these concepts through the use of mise-en-scène, and vivid cinematographic elements. The blood red coloured train stands out against a muted background.
Released September 29, 1950, Sunset Boulevard is a film noir of a forgotten silent film star, Norma Desmond, that dreams of a comeback and an unsuccessful screenwriter, Joe Gillis, working together. Ultimately an uncomfortable relationship evolves between Norma and Joe that Joe does not want a part of. Sunset Boulevard starts off with an establishing shot from a high angle shot with a narrative leading to a crime scene shot in long shot (a dead body is found floating in a pool). The narrative throughout the film established a formalist film. Cinematography John F. Seitz used lighting and camera angles in such a way to create a loneliness and hopefulness atmosphere.

As we get deeper in the story we found out there have been multiple accusations of Diane being with other guys during her unfaithful marriage with Michael. The real question is who is the creator of this documentaries, Sarah Polley’s, biological father and why did Diane hide such a colossal secret from her family? From the dinner table jokes of Sarah being adopted, to the friends views of Diane 's affairs, there should have been more certainty from an earlier time to who her father
A Raisin in the Sun PBA Unit 2 Cinematography and filmmaking are art forms completely open to interpretation in many ways such lighting, the camera as angles, tone, expressions, etc. By using cinematic techniques a filmmaker can make a film communicate to the viewer on different levels including emotional and social. Play writes include some stage direction and instruction regarding the visual aspect of the story. In this sense, the filmmaker has the strong basis for adapting a play to the big screen. “A Raisin in the Sun” is a play by Lorraine Hansberry that debuted on Broadway in 1959.
When most people feel like they are close to God; they usually make good moral decisions. In Doubt by John Patrick Shanley; Sister Aloysius tells Sister James that “In the pursuit of wrongdoing, one steps away from God. Of course, there’s a price.” When stepping away from God someone is committing sins and they are doing things that are usually not accepted. As the main characters stepped away from God, they had to pay the price of making wrong choices and the price of being pressured by those choices.

The film 13th directed by Ava DuVernay targets an intended audience of the Media and the three branches of the United States government with an emphasis that mass incarceration is an extension of slavery. It is intended to inform viewers about the criminalization of African Americans and the United States prison boom. 13th uses rhetorical devices in its claim to persuade the viewers by using exemplum in the opening seconds of the film. President Barack Obama presents statistics, saying “the United States is home to 5% of the world’s population but is home to 25% of the world’s prisoners.” Also the film uses a hyperbole in talking about the movie Birth of a Nation produced in 1915 which portrays a black man as a violent savage who will kill white women.
He is currently touring across 10 countries and has 31 upcoming concerts. Personally, I think Illmatic is a masterpiece and a must listen for hip hop fans. Nas's lyrics and storytelling on this album are incredible. The songs go over struggles, social problems, and personal thoughts, giving us a real understanding of life in communities you would never learn about.
Additionally, Lil Nas X's use of the words "racin'" and "speedin'" demonstrate the effort needed to be put forth into a goal for it to be worthwhile and satisfactory, for the best achievements are no easy feat and require sacrifice and resilience to make them a reality. Moreover, a person has to push oneself to the limit by overcoming the unanticipated barriers that may stand in their way, for no goal lacks obstacles, and it is unwise to take the road to success lightly. Despite the challenges he faces, Lil Nas X is chasing after his dreams, for he deems his success is worth everything, and because of that, he will not give
The documentary, Merchants of cool, describes an evolving relationship between the vast teenage population and corporate America. The film provides an in-depth look at the marketing strategies and communication between these groups. Adolescents are shown as learners and adapters of the fast-paced world; they’re constantly exposed to fashions and trends. These young adults have a lot of disposable income and are willing to spend it, in order to gain social popularity. In other words, they are chasing ‘cool’.
In 2015, HBO aired a six-part, true crime documentary series titled, The Jinx: The Life and Deaths of Robert Durst. Writer and director, Andrew Jarecki, examined the details of three crimes associated with Durst, including the disappearance of Durst’s first wife Kathy, the murder of his dear friend, Susan, and the murder and dismemberment of his neighbor, Morris Black. While the mini-series was met with acclaim, many – including myself – criticize The Jinx for its storytelling approach. The series seemingly blurs the lines of storytelling – for entertainment purposes – and journalism; raising many questions regarding ethics. As I walked or rather pushed my way through the masses of people to get to the Samsung stage to listen to the eccentric A$AP Rocky. I should probably point out that I had no idea who or what A$ AP Rocky was. The only song I have that he is remotely in a Taylor Swift song. He had drawn one of the largest crowds of the night, so I decided to check him out.
‘A Time to Kill’ is a movie that depicts the racial tensions between the white and black Americans in the past. The movie revolves around the life of Jake Brigance, a lawyer, and Carl Lee Hailey, as he struggles with the law and racism after seeking justice for his raped 10-year old daughter. As Carl Lee approaches Brigance for help with his case, they both face the challenge of blurring the lines between the white and black Americans and helping Carl Lee escape the long arms of the law. In the movie, racism, negligence of one side of the story, and objectivity are applied.
Throughout the course of one’s life, there is a constant search for some form of happiness. We may not always realize we are on the quest for it, but it’s part of human nature. In “Silver Linings Playbook” we see this happen throughout with Pat and Tiffany, who are both searching for happiness. The film is relatable to us all in that many times we go looking for happiness only to come up empty-handed.
The Five People You Meet In Heaven Book Report Author Mitch Albom wrote a book entitled, The Five People You Meet In Heaven, which was published by Hyperion in 2003. It has 208 pages, which portrays religious fiction and philosophical fiction. The story tells us about a maintenance man named Eddie, who tried saving a little girl from the amusement park ride that was about to fall. His heroic act caused him his life and he was sent to heaven, wherein he encounters the five people who changed his whole being when he was still alive. Eddie traveled to heaven where he met the first of the five people, The Blue Man.
