The name of the documentary “Freeman”is directed by Laurence Billiet and was released on the 13th of October 2020. This legendary documentary is about Australian Olympic gold medal winner Cathy Freeman trying to capture the capture her dream of winning gold at the 2000 Sydney Olympics. This documentary is also about national identity and sporting excellence. This documentary shows all of the obstacles that Cathy Freeman had to overcome as an Aboriginal person in Australia before they said sorry to the stolen generation. The concept of national identity reoccurs throughout Freeman, most obviously through the use of found footage, observational footage and interviews with Cathy Freeman and her coach. At 12:23 a.m. Cathy Freeman won her race at the 1994 Victorian Commonwealth Games and got a new PR and to celebrate she brought out a half Australian and half Aboriginal flag.
