The people of America eat crushed to death pigs and chickens so genetically modified that they cannot walk. The documentary Food Inc. by filmmaker Robert Kenner uncovered some concerning realities in the food industry that should get addressed. Laws and regulations have been passed over the years, yet the dangers of processing plants continue. While it may seem like more laws need to be made, the truth is that laws and regulations are already put in place to protect the people and animals in the food industry. They just need to be better enforced. Creating a law is one thing, but making sure those laws are enforced is something completely different. In his documentary, Robert Kenner showed animals being beaten and killed inhumanely. While there is yet to be a federal law against animal cruelty in the food industry, there are regulations put forth by the USDA sub-agency programs like the Animal Care Program and the Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service that are against factory farming (National Humane Education …show more content…

Farming is one of the most dangerous jobs, yet the laws and regulations regarding worker safety are rarely enforced. Worker are surrounded by dangerous equipment, toxic chemicals, and some work out in the sun all day. Robert Kenner addressed the fact that in most corporate farms no safety precautions are taken to make sure the workers leave uninjured at the end of each day. The only thing these businesses care about is profit. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have set laws and regulations regarding farm worker safety regarding pesticides and avoiding heat related injuries, yet people continue to die from work related injuries on farms (National Farm Worker Ministry, 2016). If the regulations and guidelines were followed by farms across the United States the number work related injuries and deaths would decrease
