Remember the titans takes place in a the civil rights movement at a local high school T. C. Williams in the city of Alexandria in Northern Virginia. The year was 1971 and two schools were merging together to make a non-segregated school. An African American named Herman Boone was hired to fill the position of head coach to lead the football team called the Titans, and offered the an assistant position to the previous head coach Bill Yoast who was Caucasian and he declines the offer until he hears that the Caucasian players will not play for the new head coach unless he participates in the football program. During this time the black and white players did not seem to get along due to the segregation between the two. The parents of the players were appalled. This was unfathomable for many, as they were still among the chaos going on in the community. These players made an impact on the community, showing that they could get along with one another. They showed that they in fact had similarities and the only thing different was the pigmentation of their skin. By the end of the movie, the community adopted the same beliefs that the players formed while at camp. The character I would relate myself to is Louis Lastik. The scene in the movie when coach Boone address the team and only the black players show up Louie shows up late. He explains that he just move in, just wants to play football, and says hello to everyone. All the black players look at him as if he is delusional. He quickly makes friends with all him teammates and finds common interest between the both of them. He doesn’t see the skin color, rather he sees a human being with common
