Tim Burton is a well known American director, screenwriter, and author. Tim Burton has made many films in his lifetime most of them being grotesque horror films.. He has some well known films such as, Edward Scissorhands, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Big Fish, Alice in Wonderland, and Sweeney Todd the Demon Barber of Fleet Street. Each one of these films are dark and grotesque in some way shape or form. Burton uses lighting, camera angles, and sound to give off a feeling of suspense, and eeriness in his films.. These film techniques are used in these films to make the viewer sit on the edge of their seat with anticipation. The effects of these film techniques keeps the viewers engaged and interested in the film(s).

The lighting Tim burton uses is primarily dark and dreary. The majority of movies he produces is Horror and he uses that lighting to give off a feel of suspense and anticipation. The darkness may be creepy because you don't know all of what's there. Tim burton uses low key lighting in his movies, for example in Edward Scissorhands when Edward was in the corner of the mansion when Peg came in you couldn't really see him because he used low key lighting to give off that feel of not knowing what or who is in the room. …show more content…
