In my opinion, social media has re-conceptualized the global marketplace. It undoubtedly has influenced how people communicate with friends and family, stay up to date on the news and current events and the way companies and their respective brands convey their message to the masses. The advantage of media platforms such as Pinterest, LinkedIn, Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook to name a few, is that they provide another medium for organizations which target and then solicit their audiences more efficiently and effectively. This is supported by the reading, “By using global advertising agencies, companies are able to take advantage of economies of scale and other efficiencies” (Peter & Donnelly Jr, 2013, Pg. 213). When advertising with social media, organizations have the ability to not only establish new customers, but to expand the awareness of their particular brand across the globe. However, despite the many benefits encompassing the various social media platforms, they are not without its faults and or concerns. One such concern, is that with social media advertising, the business is potentially put at risk of losing control over their entire online content involving their products and services. If there is an instance where poor customer service and our negative product reviews comes into play, it has the propensity to disseminate rather quickly via the internet or other media platforms. This type of negative publicity has the potential to damage the reputation of an organization, before given a chance to quite possibly rectify the situation. Nonetheless, it is undeniable that organizations, as well as the global economy benefit immensely from the successful and effective use of various media
