My reasons for taking these classes is mostly to challenge myself to work harder and to learn more. Although I know these classes are difficult and consume a lot of time, I know that I can complete the work and try my hardest on everything I do. I am prepared to have new experiences through these classes and learn exciting new things. I can manage my time wisely, so that I can complete all the work given to me by all of my classes. I am totally committed to these classes and will try my hardest on each and every class and assignment given to me. In the past two years there have been four men who were executed who proved innocent after their deaths. According to factslides.com, it stated on an article called 31 facts about the Death Penalty” by Pema Levy published on April 28, 2014, that at least 1 in 25 people sentenced to the death penalty are innocent. Although this is not a high number this still means that four people have been executed unfairly. That is not something that can be rectified. In this case, the Death Penalty is deterring criminals. One of the biggest fears we have as human beings are dying. By using the death penalty as punishment, we are deterring homicides in the country. If the murders were sentenced to death potential murders would think twice before committing a crime like that. According to an article called “Studied say Death Penalty Deters Crime” by Robert Tanner on Washingtonpost.com, each execution deters an average of 18 murders by a study done at Emory University. Also according to an article on procon.org by Ernest Van Den Haag, PhD, published on Oct. 17, 1983 one execution can deter between 3 and 18 murders. That is an average of 10 people that can be saved.
