Business Economics is understood globally, it provides a critical approach to distinguish between facts and opinions, build arguments and inform decisions. I have always been interested in Business Economics, by studying Economics A level it has taught me to make analytical and informed judgements, as the effect of the economy on businesses is always changing. By studying Economics I have developed a financial awareness that I am keen to develop at degree level. I keep updated with current affairs through TIME and The Economist, allowing me to be more cognisant of the effect of income disparity and different economic policies. The broad relevance of Business Economics has particularly sparked my interest, especially recent disputes over resources. In 2015 I entered “The Young Economist of the Year,” submitting a two thousand world entry on “The ‘benefit’ of Fracking and if it should be allowed.” I explored extracting oil, and how it aggressively dominates the World economy, creating balance of payment issues and domestic inflation. My essay was Highly Commended by top Economists, resulting in it being in the top 4% of all worldwide entries. …show more content…

This competition will demonstrate my public speaking skills and financial awareness by analysing recent data, indicating possible inflationary pressures building in the UK economy. Whilst taking part in the IFS student challenge I was responsible for the purchasing of stocks.
