I have chosen the three university courses because there is an immediate need for energy if Africa has to improve its economic state. The courses will offer the skills needed to improve the energy sector in Zambia and Africa. To show that these courses are important for sustainable development in our continent, statistics show us that despite all the efforts 645 million Africans are without access to electricity and 700 million Africans do not have access to clean cooking fuel. And we understand that 600,000 Africans die on an annual basis due to polluted household air and half of those are children. Need to develop bio-fuel that will help deliver a future that is prosperous and more sustainable for Africa. Alternative energy source exploits include biomass, ethanol and biogases for clean domestic use and transportation. 3. Need for clean energy exploits that will free time and enable beneficial activities such as home businesses and education while improving household inequality. And this will provide Africa, on a large scale the much needed infrastructure, employment and energy independence while at the same time allowing it to export more goods and services to the world market. 4. Need for engagement of clean energy sources that will contribute in the reduction of the spikes in commodity prices Africa is suffering from today. Normally high cost of oil means high cost of diesel, fertilizer and transport which trickles down and makes everything more costly.
