Around the world, governments and citizens are engaging on social media. With 2.5 billion users, social media is now the dominant arena for global communications. Social media has been providing new opportunities to the government so as to allow them to share their views, decisions and opinions with the citizens at optimal moments. In fact it also renowned as one of the public’s favorite forums for engaging in government and public issues (Rusell.2017). Before, there was a constant barrier between the government and the public. However, with the introduction and development of social media in the political arena there has been a massive change (Polunsky.2014). In today’s digital world, most conversations are done virtually on social media whereby the political candidates can connect, interact and communicate with citizens without much hard work.
