Alpine skiing consist of six different events in the winter Olympics in 2018 in PyeongChang. Two of the events are Downhill skiing and Slalom. There are many people who compete in the winter olympics. And they must train hard to get there.
Downhill alpine skiing has three rules. The first rule is the skier must stay in between the lines as men/women speed down the mountain. As the men and women are skiing down the mountain they must take longer than one minute to put a score and they only get on attempt to getting a score. This sport has been in the winter olympics since 1948. One famous girl Lindsey Vonn is from the United States and won the gold in this event in 2010 due to an injury she had to miss the games in 2014. She has been doing alot of physical therapy and has done a lot of training sessions to make a come back in the olympics (Evans).

There are two rules that was found during this research, the first rule is you have to maneuver through poles and you have do a number of sharp turns. In the slalom olympics the women's have a slightly smaller drop then the men do. You go slow in the race unlike others where you go fast. The Slalom has been in the winter olympics since 1948. Mikaela Shiffrin won a gold medal in Sochi in 2014 and now is the women's world champion (Kolur). The last topic im going to talk about is about a famous person Ted Ligety. He was born in august 31, 1984. In salt lake city, UT he got his education at the park city winter school. He has won many gold medals like the alpine skiing at the 2014 winter olympics. He also surprised the world at age 21 for being the youngest male to win an olympic gold medal. Ted was the first man in 45 years to win three events in the winter olympics.
