Los Angeles World Airports, Los Angeles International (LAX), LA/Ontario International (ONT) and Van Nuys (VNY) The Los Angeles World Airports comprise of the main larger commercial airport (LAX) and two smaller reliever airports (ONT & VNY). The main reason for bringing up the other two smaller airports is that they are under the same management and operate under the same guidelines. For this instance, the main discussion will deal with the larger of the three, LAX. The Los Angeles World Airports is a department of Los Angeles that runs the three airports and maintains the standards of the National Plan of Integrated Airports. The NPIAS’s designation is that of an international commercial services airport having many different scheduled international flights annually. The exponential growth of not only the greater LA area, but the aviation industry has been a large contributing factor in the growth of the airport. Given the size and complexities of the airport and associated reliever airports, it is somewhat a surprise to see that the main management lead is being handled by one person. This position has been performed by Deborah Flint since two thousand fifteen and her responsibilities include managing one of the biggest public works projects in the history of Los Angeles.
