It is safe to say that data centers in the modern scenario prove to be the backbone of economy by powering a range of I.T. operations sizing from small to medium sized corporations and extending to level of full operation of cloud computing enterprise solutions. The rapidly growing demand for data centers requires a carefully regulated set of instructions/ guidelines for measuring the efficiency of energy consumed by these facilities. This report aims to recognize rating systems that currently establish guidelines to gauge sustainability of data centers and rate such facilities based on energy efficiency. Along with comprehending the list of such organizations, the report will also discuss the different metrics, which these rating systems base their analysis on. The report also aims to shed light at modern enterprise data center solutions like Facebook’s open data center design and Google’s proclaimed most efficient Data Center design.
