Libraries have been an important place where people can find and read valuable information. However, the rise of technology has threatened the importance that libraries have in the modern world. While there are many that believe the use of the internet and e-books will diminish the presence of libraries in the future, libraries are evolving to incorporate these new advancements while still providing for the poor, community, and students, that’ll make libraries essential for years to come. They provide quiet study areas for students and a place where the community can come together and go over many different topics. In Source B, the library schedule shows the many things that they can provide such as workout sessions, volunteer sessions, and even sessions about technology like Excel. Generally, these programs are meant to be done with others in the community, which is something that would be hard to mimic over the internet. This is why libraries have evolved to incorporate the community in many activities, giving libraries a new meaning and a new way to still stay relevant in the future. In addition, Source A even goes on far as to say that the new civic programs in libraries are fitting the theory of community and helping to keep democracy alive. However, others like in Source E believe that all these new programs and technologies being put in libraries makes the libraries lose their original purpose, making them much different from the past. While this is a valid point, libraries still have their original purpose of providing valuable information and are just evolving with the times in order to stay relevant.
