A Brief Overview of my Plans for Financial Stability in College “A college degree is the key to realizing the American dream, well worth the financial sacrifice because it is supposed to open the door to a world of opportunity,” stated Dan Rather. It feels like yesterday when I remember my first day of Kindergarten. That was twelve years ago. It is shocking that in only a matter of months I’ll be starting a new chapter in my life, college. My parents have been telling me ever since I can remember, that I was going to college. Ever since then, I’ve had a mindset of me preparing myself for college. Once I graduate during May, I will have a chance to earn a Hathaway scholarship. The Hathaway scholarship rewards me for my time in Worland High School. The scholarship has requirements that have to be met. The scholarship includes classes that I had to take, and my overall ACT score. As of this moment, I currently qualify for the Performance Scholarship, which gives a scholarship worth $2,520 a year. I would like, however, to try and pursue the Honors Scholarship, which, with an ACT score of 25, I would receive $3,360 a year. I would like to receive the Honors Scholarship because I would like to help my parents pay for my college. While I’d not actually be paying for my own college, I’d like to help my parents by getting as many scholarships as possible. As shown on the guidance website, there are many other scholarships that I could possibly receive. I will have to apply for these such scholarships, which are given out on scholarship night in a few months. If I were able to get several scholarships, including Hathaway, then I’d have a significant portion of my college paid for. Clearly, scholarships will help pay for my
