Movies can illustrate something beyond being fun to watch, it can teach us many educational lessons. In Finding Dory, it demonstrates many educational tools, as well as many points related to the grade 9 Science curriculum particularly in the Ecology unit.

How is the film an educational tool?
- Finding Dory teaches us moral lessons on the importance of family. Ex: Dory is determined to find her family throughout this entire movie when remembering small flashbacks on her adventure.
- It teaches kids not to view people on their conditions. For example, Dory had suffered from short time memory loss and the other small species have made fun of her by continuously saying, “why do you keep forgetting things Dory”, opposed to helping her and feel no sympathy for her.
- Furthermore, to always stay close with your parents in order to never get in a situation where you become lost. Ex: Dory wanders off …show more content…

How it related to the Grade 9 Science Curriculum?
Finding Dory relates to the Grade 9 Science Curriculum in a numerous amount of ways:
- Aquatic ecosystems - Throughout this film you can the many different types of species and how there are different ways species survive in different areas. Ex: Some animals need to be deeper in the ocean like the sharks whereas sea lions live on the land but extremely close to the water (light availability).
- Humans decomposing. Ex: When Dory was stuck to the garbage of the can holder, which shows how we humans need to stop polluting the aquatic ecosystems by throwing disposable waste.
- Environmental Issues: Ex: When the sea lion informs to the clown fishes that they need to stay away from their habitat due to safety on their ecosystem.
- Another example would be how Dory was put from a natural habit to an artificial habitat, which has an effect on the aquatic species.
