Finding Safe Haven
This film by writer Nicholas Sparks shows what it is like to be broken down, abused, and how things might get better in the end. This movie speaks loud and clear about running from an abuser and about becoming scared if it could happen again. Nicolas Sparks came up with this piece of work from asking himself questions. Thinking about writing something to do with danger and that’s how this storyline became to be Safe Haven. The film is about a young women struggling to find love again after all she went through. Bad things happen in life it’s up to the person to overcome it.
First off, at the beginning of the move you see a very scared young lady running and covered in blood. Through the movie Katie gets nightmares of Kevin slams her around repeatedly before climbing on top of her and choking her. Katie grabs a steak knife that was close on the floor near her and stabs him in the ribs. Katie runs in shock and horror of what just happened. The character was written to portray a woman that gets away from a bad life, to get a chance to start over. Katie Feldman runs from an abusive life with her husband. Abuse can be different from one may think such as, verbal abuse, emotional abuse, and physical abuse. Verbal abuse is the use of words to cause harm to the person being spoken to. For one, using insults like, “your worthless.” Two there is a demeaning someone, “Did you know that your easily replaceable because you are!” These are a few of the ways that verbal abuse is used in today’s society. Verbal abuse is easy to do because people get mad and say things they might not mean. Know when getting mad, avoid hurtful things and avoid saying something that might be regretful later.
