In modern society we associate spies as being apart of an elite force. These elite forces are the C.I.A or the F.B.I. Back during the American Revolution, spies were used. This was in the 1700’s. Women played an outstanding role in this part of history. Women were used more as spies because they were seen as traditional - in the form cooking and cleaning skills - and being very innocent. Various women were chosen and gotten the opportunity of becoming a spy. In 1775, the first establishment of a spy agency was the Continental Congress. You could make it out to be the first C.I.A. Agency in America.
In these times, it was a lot easier to be a female spy than a male spy. Women were able to eavesdrop on conversations that the British have and reported back to the respectful authority (Culper Spy Ring) about what they discovered. Many agents were chosen to either be apart of the Continental Congress or the Culper Spy Ring. A lady by the code “Agent 355” was one of the first female spies America has ever produced. Spies then only relied on traditional skills that they learned from generations before them and utilized them on the field, just like Ann Bates, Agent 355 and Anna Strong. This generation of spies - for example the Totally Spies! (2001-present) and K.C. Undercover (2014-present) - who learned their skills through gadget/combat training, and various classes. We as individuals relied too much on technology which basically is the foundation of society today. We are too in-tune with smartphones and don 't even remember the basics of what we did years ago. Spies back then use what little they knew to get their missions completed. In conclusion, the Culper Spy Ring produced some of the most intelligent female spies during the American Revolution. This is GIRL
