Fisk Alloy Wire, Inc. and Percon
Introduction:
Brothers Eric and Brian Fisk own Fisk Alloy Wire, Inc. The company is focused on the development and manufacturing of copper alloy wire to be used in electronic components and conductors. Fisk Alloy partook in the development of a copper alloy that was cadmium free. This was an important development since cadmium was a known carcinogen, which was a major factor during the processing and disposal stages. As stated by Their President Erik Fisk when it comes to the firm’s strategy, “We want to be the top dog but not necessarily the biggest dog. Companies that manage only for the bottom line often lose sight of the core strengths that got them there. We are a quality house and that’s what got us where we are.”
Agency:
Fisk Alloy Wire, Inc. and Percon was started in 1973 by John Fisk for the production of copper alloy wire in different shapes such as round, flat, and precision square. Wire was produced for exclusive use in electronics, connectors, and components. Fisk Alloy Wire was …show more content…

Fisk said to the gatekeepers in the conductor business, “The first gatekeeper is the alloy. If you do not have the alloy, you are not going anywhere. Secondly, you have the equipment, which is as scarce as hen’s teeth or far too expensive. Finally, you must have the management and skill set to run the equipment at the required quality levels” (Hitt, Hoskisson, & Ireland, 2017). Copper wire was originally known for its high electrical conductivity, making it the natural choice for wire at the time. Commercially, pure copper was easily producible, making it cost effective. The downside of copper wire was the fact that was low in core strength and would soften in relatively colder climates. Even though this weakness occurred the industry alloyed copper with various materials in order to overcome the
