The Great Gatsby, by F. Scott Fitzgerald, is a novel about the emptiness and recklessness of the 1920’s. Many of the events that occurred in The Great Gatsby were based off of real life events experienced by Fitzgerald himself. Fitzgerald’s early life almost mirrors the backstory of Gatsby and Carraway. Fitzgerald was the biggest celebrity in the 1920’s and he experienced first hand the real American Dream and he wrote this book depicting its beauties and horrors. In F.
