There are five contexts of communication described in chapter one of this textbook and they are described in my own words in the format below:
Intrapersonal Communication involves a conversation that takes place inside a person. Interestingly, such conversation includes a deep thought of reflection that removes one’s attention from the physical environment and concentrates internally. This kind of conversation or communication is called “Self-talk” McLean (2010). Almost every time, I speak to myself concerning issues that may not be convenient to relate with others. For example, before registering for this course, it took me two days to decide whether this course is what I wanted to study now. I had to talk and discuss it within me, to a point I dreamed of it. This is a practical example of intrapersonal communication, and I use it very often to decide what I do.
Interpersonal communication: Interestingly, one has to have a person he or she confides in, and I do have one. When I have issues of great concern, I relate them to my friend whom I trust to keep my secret and advise me when necessary. For example, when I wanted to engage a property that was up for sale, I wasn’t sure if that was the right thing to do, but when I confided in him, his advice proves to be what I needed at that instant. Essentially, I regard such mails as both dangerous and infectious; therefore, I waste no time in deleting them. Another example of mass communication I despise is television advertisement.
