Industry Overview The ice cream industry is a five billion dollar industry. Annually, the industry grows by 2.9%. Currently, there are around 15,000 businesses and 128,000 employees in the industry. People tend to like it because of its originality and new feel. People don’t tend to go to Fizz for ice cream, but ice cream floats, so their selection of flavours is not as broad and also somewhat random. Also, Fizz has a girly feel and most guys would not choose that as their first option to conserve their “manliness.” Because they have created somewhat of a fanbase, it might be hard to pull some of the people over, but it could be done. Another big competitor is MiMi’s ice cream truck. They get lots of business because of how much of a novelty food trucks are now. They are known for their ice cream and cookie sandwiches and odd toppings such as fruity pebbles and doughnuts. One downside is that from the moment they open, the line is at least 20 people long and the wait can be very long. Another issue is that they don’t actually make their own cookies or ice cream, and as people find this out, they get turned off. They also don’t offer regular ice cream options like ice cream cones and they only have a few ice cream flavours. Labour
