Life Goals In the essay “The Storyteller”, Sandra Cisneros describes how her identity was shaped by goals that she had for herself. Starting from a young Cisneros dreamt about living in her own silent home that fitted her taste. Years later after coming home from college she still had the dream of living on her own and also with a career goal of becoming a writer. Cisneros determination to follow her dreams was strong, however, her father’s did not agree with the dreams and even had a different idea of what he wanted for her.
The rapid expansion of technological growth is immersing our culture. The Nathan Jurgenson’s “The IRL Fetish”, argues that people have weird obsessions about the offline. Technological advances allow people to experience the online, but Jurgenson realizes that people are also fetishizing the movement against the online. People and novelists who complain the online world laments, “Writer after writer laments the loss of a sense of disconnection, of boredom (now redeemed as a respite from anxious info-cravings) …” (Jurgenson 127).
Not So Fast” Andrea Lunsford researched students’ writing for 30-plus years to see what effect new technology has on how students learn. Lunsford discovered that students are actually improving their own writing skills with the help of mass media. Not only does it allow students more access to educational resources and information, but it also encourages students to do more creative thinking and writing outside of class which Lunsford refers to in her article as “life writing.” In her research she recalls the account of a student who sent a friend a text message which was completely informal and would be considered unprofessional by most piers. However, the same student also sent a very formal and professional report to her faculty adviser later on.

After watching the video I felt very emotional and inspired by Susan’s work and passion about helping and serving women who were released from prison. I discovered how easy it is for people who have been released from prison to return to prison due to the lack of support and resources some people are able to receive. The fact the people who have drug or narcotic felonies are not able to receive food stamps or low-income housing stood out to me. This stood out because this rule is one factor of how people who have previously been incarcerated return back to prison. It surprised me how much a family member incarcerated effects a family and the impact it has on relationships.
Flannery O’Connor is widely known for her southern gothic style short stories which entail characters who question their morals. Living in Georgia her entire life, O’Connor was deep in the bible belt and invested herself in Roman Catholicism. Many readers can assume while reading her short stories that she was extremely religious due to the fact religion plays a role and is a theme in each short story. O’Connor was an important addition to American Literature in the early twentieth century being that she composed two novels, thirty-two short stories, and a handful of commentaries and reviews. She was also the first writer born in the nineties to have her works collected and published in the Library of America.
Since her time, readers have been fascinated with Flannery O’Connor as a person and author. Perhaps the reason they find her so engaging is her use of Southern Gothic. It becomes immediately apparent to the reader that her tales tend to rely on a variety of dark, recurring patterns. O’Connor explores religion and morality, highlighting often how the two correspond and collide, and also introduces grotesque characters that simultaneously elicit empathy and disgust. Representing these vastly different worlds are O'Connor's two major groups of protagonists: the traditional elderly, and their young urban children ( Tony Magistrale 111).

Although the ancient Hero’s Journey Archetype may not seem to have a lot to do do with this science fiction novel set in the future, it applies to this book more than you would expect. Throughout the book Guy Montag experiences many steps of the Hero’s Journey Archetype, as he is setting out to pursue knowledge.

The story starts with Allison, the wife, coming in from getting pumpkins for the evening events with her husband. She walks through their home where she finds the mail. She finds a letter from her husband’s relatives who saying awful things.

To be multiliterate, a person is needed to be able to understand and function with numerous methods of communication. Multiliteracy involves being reading and writing literate and being able to understand and use technology to function and survive in the world of today. Technology is constantly changing and increasing and being multiliterate is of vital importance. I intend to discuss three important literacies in my life, being computer literate, reading and writing literate as well as health literacy. These literacies have helped me grow into the person I am today as well as gotten me as successful as I can be at my age.
