American culture includes the customs and traditions of the United States. It not just one thing it is such a broad aspect. "Culture encompasses religion, what we wear, what we believe is right or wrong, how we behave with loved ones, and a million other things." American society back then a long time ago, however, was based off social classes and hierarchical positions. Today’s society focuses on Nikes or Jordans, Gucci or Prada, Tommy or Ralph Lauren and society is wrapped up in the advances of technology-the virtual world. In Florence Kelley’s speech in 1905 she expresses the unequal standards for men and women in the work field. She addresses how harsh the work field was for women and how the pay was more generous to men because in those times men were seen more superior than women and had many more advantages. He is claiming that we experience nature throughout a window instead of actually interacting with it. We don’t try to think nor see outside of our natural habitats, which is our phones at this day and age. He continues with the use of personification to elaborate more into this idea of us so into technology which is “ advertisers already stamp their messages into the wet sands of public beaches”. This use of personification explains that our nature is already been taken away by different uses of technology and the way the world is perceived now.
