Choosing a career like a dental assisting I knew that I had to learn how to properly care for my teeth, like many others I thought I was already caring for them properly. In reality no of us where. Most people believe that caring for your teeth is only brushing maybe once a day, this is not true. To properly care for ones teeth you must brush at least twice a day, in combination of flossing. Flossing is a critical step in having a healthier mouth. Although many make the mistake of brushing and flossing this is incorrect. The proper way to do so is, flossing and then brushing. Why is this? flossing helps reach those spots that a toothbrush alone can't reach in the mouth, it helps get into the sulcus, this would be in between your teeth and gums. flossing will bring all the food out of the gums thus leaving everything on the surface of the teeth. Brushing immediately after flossing will leave you with a healthier mouth, unlike if you brushed and then flossed you would leave all the germs and bacteria sit on your teeth.
