Flute Monologue

Band has always had some type of involvement in my life. Whether it was me making the music or someone else performing and me just spectating, observing, the music. When I was back in elementary, I played piano with enjoyment, it was all I ever wanted to play. My oldest sister, Kaycee, was one of the reasons I chose flute. In all honesty, playing flute was not my choice, if I had it my way I would have played piano since I loved piano before fourth grade. The main reasons I had to play flute was because, my sister played flute and quit for choir so we had flutes. My mother also played flute but quit because of cheerleading. I personally disliked the instrument, the tone was airy, no one seemed to know how to read the staff, the instrument was always cold, it was hard to play. and was not nearly as clear as a piano. I was forced to stick with it, however, when I transferred schools in fifth grade, I was buyyant to quit flute and have more opportunities to have lessons for piano. However, when I came back to Loyalsock in the six grade I was once again forced into playing the dreadful flute that I grew to hate. I rarely play piano anymore, I play flute all the time and I even started playing piccolo. My reasons for being in band have changed a lot, I did not plan on joining marching band either but Kelcee wanted to do it so I was pressured in. I am thrilled that my parents forced me to stick with flute since now I am rather decent at it and enjoy it. All of my close friends are now in band and without band I most likely would not have met them. I also would have missed out on some of the experiences I am currently in. (Literally I am in the dorm room at districts it might be past lights out aka 10 this is your fault if I fall asleep tomorrow at the concert). I also get to go to regionals, hopefully, still not official
