When one decides to take a stand on a prominent affair, the results can change a whole nation’s perspective. This was the case when Upton Sinclair introduced The Jungle at the turn of the twentieth century. During this time, the government had a laissez faire approach to business. Their lack of involvement in large commercial businesses caused companies in the food industry to create hazardous situations for both labor workers and consumers. The Jungle outlined the many flaws in the industry and later impacted the way workers are treated and how food is produced.
