It's Tuesday and Joes Diner is having a super special ,my friend and I are so excited to go we can almost taste the food. As we walk into the diner and are seated , our waiter approaches us : "Good afternoon ladies would either of you like to start off with drinks? We have Cola , Sprite and Ginger ale loaded with carbonated antifreeze .Our Joes Madness Sandwich is very popular tonight and it comes with yoga mat plastic bread , monosodium glutamate green bell peppers, wood shavings American cheese, sulfite lettuce and, to top it all off, the chefs signature selected meats that comes with many tasty health affecting causing chemicals with a side of cancer , diabetes, heart disease and obesity . This means they regulate all food additives right ? Wrong according to the FDA "unless the substance is generally recognized as safe " GRAS . Translation if the food doesn't cause health issues like cancer, obesity or diabetes it is considered "safe" and there is no need for the Food Drug and Administration approval. Many people most wonder is their a better way to know what's in their food ? Food labeling is suppose to help consumers . People believe they should be more readable and consumer friendly . Instead they are small , hard to read and sometimes incomprehensible. Food labeling should allow people to know what exactly in their foods. Improving food labeling will close loopholes that allow companies to make misleading health relating claims for food products. If a company claims there food is "natural" . The FDA should make sure the product is 110% natural. The FDA should have stricter standards for food labeling. We are not science
