n today’s world when a majority of people think of football they think of Europe due its quality of play. The quality of play is all due to the roots of football back in the late 1800s and 1900s when football was introduced by physical educators and others in certain countries such as Germany (Guttman 47). From the beginning those who played football in Europe referred to it as “more than just a sport” which is a motto I believe Europe has lived by ever since then. Here in the United States our style of play compared to the European football is lacking incredible; the speed of play, speed agility and all aspects of the game in Major League Soccer lack what leagues such as the Premier league have. In my perspective this is due to one broad reason:

The top Premier League clubs have spending budgets of around £200.5m which they believe are necessary to bring in world class players to enhance their odds of winning the Premier League. However, as Leicester City proved last year, large sums of money are not needed to win championships because they won the Premier League in the 2015/2016 season. Leicester City had a wage bill of £48.2m while a top club like Chelsea had a wage bill of £215.6m (Wage Bills 2016/2017). These numbers prove to me that spending large sums of money on players is not necessary for clubs. I believe that reducing spending on such big name players could make more clubs profitable in the Premier League, however, this will never happen because wages keep increasing for top names such as Pogba, Aguero, Ozil and many
