Hancock Bulldog Football Offensive Philosophy
1- Type of Offense: we run a Pro-style offense that uses 21 personnel. Our offensive design is simple and sound but also diverse and adjustable. We use multiple formations, motions, and play series that allow us to feature our best players and force defenses to defend the field both vertically and horizontally.
2- Practice: we practice at a very fast pace as we constantly move up and down the practice field. We do this so that our players do so automatically in the game. We practice high numbers of repetitions for each play we expect to call in a game. We do this so that players know their assignments so well they are able to focus on the correct technique needed for each play. We practice our offensive plays against a defense that is encouraged to take advantage of their knowledge of our offense. 3- Balanced Offense: our goal for a run/pass ratio through the course of the season is 50% running plays and 50% passing plays. By the end of the season, we want our ratio of touches by position to be 33% Tailback, 33% Fullback, and 34% for the Wide Receiver, Tight End and the Quarterback combined. We have a package of plays that include power and finesse, inside and outside run, and both short and deep passes. In Fast Break mode, we snap the ball as quickly as it is legally possible. We Fast Break for three reasons. 1) It increases our chances to score against an opponent who is less talented than we are. 2) It can catch a defense off guard. 3) It is a way to tire out an opponent that plays most of their players both ways. In Turtle mode, we emphasis ball security and use as much time as we can between each play. We Turtle for two reasons. 1) It reduces the number of plays and possessions of an opponent who has more talent than we have. 2) It allows us to run out the clock at the end of a half or
