Football Players Contribute To Social Injustice

Have many people watched the football games recently or even the news? Reason being there is a huge controversy about the NFL football players not standing for the national anthem. The football players are doing this to bring awareness to social injustice. This is okay to protest but not in this setting. That they should be protesting on their own time and just not at their work/ football games. This started when Colin Kaepernick sat down for the national anthem. He did this based on his own words as stated in the news channel 11Alive and he said “I am not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of color.” Then his team started doing this, then other teams, and then it became a movement. Though it is not every football player in the NFL that is doing this because people have a right to their own opinions in America thanks to the first amendment that gives the people this freedom. A lot of these teams are kneeling and linking arms to show unity and solidarity, then standing for the anthem after that. …show more content…

They see this action as disrespecting America and that the love for America is nearly the only thing that’s connecting us together. That this type of expression is disrespecting the millions of people in the military protecting us, that it is not an acceptable action in their workplace (because these football games is their work), and that this isn’t the right setting and should do it somewhere
