After the stock market crashed in 1929, the Great Depression loomed over the United States and the lives of people were extremely affected. The Great Depression led to a big part of society being unemployed, homeless, and deprived of food due to not having financial stability. The government was not doing anything to help the people in need. People were mad to the extent of making it seem like a revolution was going to happen since a huge amount of strikes were taking place, police brutality was occurring, and the government was seen as thieves by the lower/middle class. This march is considered the bloodiest chapter in Detroit labor history. Unemployed people got infuriated at the fact that business weren’t offering workers’ compensation, since it would have been a huge help for them. Unemployment, homelessness, and starvation rose. The government refused to step in and assist, as it went against the president’s beliefs of capitalism. They were believed to only have the rich’s needs in account and did not care if the citizens were left to die, so they stole their money and feed it to the rich. The people refused to give up and instead began to speak of starting a revolution. If the country would not help them, they would help themselves with any means necessary. Strikes took place and police made it clear that their brutality would only get stronger. Just like in today's society, the president, Donald J. Trump has taken away DACA from undocumented students. He is also willing and working on removing the Affordable Care Act(ACA) and will continue to take way help programs until our society becomes completely capitalistic.
