He covers all his ground of the major battles in Russia’s eastern front, while also giving the lowdown on the happenings inside the Russian government, military, and society. His myth busting strategy created an interesting twist to his style. There were some points that the average reader could find himself or herself lost. During the part where he was getting into the depths of the Russian military, I found myself losing track of what his original point was, mainly because I am not savvy when it comes to the topic of military structure. There are other times that I found myself losing some interest, especially in the parts where little fighting was going on.
Konstantin Yershov and Georgi Kropachyov try to touch on a few different myths or folklores of Russia that __ uses in the book. Along with this the producers represented society and the Cossacks during the imperial time quite well. The clothing which the cast wore during this time was Turkish inspired which was an interesting choice because during the time period when the movie was made Keivan Rus had many influences from different countries mainly the Mongols. Another historical idea that the writers brought forward in this move was the idea of the Cossacks being more of a religious entity instead of a political one.
The Hunger Games story, Catching Fire, is connected to many themes and had lots of well thought-out characters, foreshadowing and symbols. One of the most important symbols in the story was the mocking jay. The Mocking Jay is used to show rebellion, survival and hope which are all major themes in Catching Fire. As well as being a symbol for rebellion, it also foreshadowed that District 13 may actually still be alive. After the war between the Districts and the Capitol, it was rumored that the Capitol destroyed district 13.

Leonka, now Misha, once the kitchen boy to the Romanovs, claims to be the last living witness to the family’s execution. Misha uses exposition, foreshadowing, and dramatic irony to create suspense as he retells the story of those final days of the Imperial Family.
The author uses real historical event from World War II to make the story more realistic. Sepety uses unfamiliar Russian vocabulary to make the reader feel like they’re in the story. For example, of the historical used in the story, In our first informational text, “Lithuanians by the Laptev Sea” by Violeta Kelertas it informs, “One after another overfilled convoys moved eastward transporting great masses of people,” In the novel it informs, “I counted the people- forty-six packed in a cage on wheel, maybe a rolling coffin.” Between Shades of Grey by Ruta Sepety is a emotional and mental roller coaster.
Key Assignment One: “The Landlady” In “The Landlady,” by Roald Dahl, the author uses foreshadowing to alert the reader of the possible calamity that will befall the main character, Billy Weaver. Immediately, readers are provided with foreshadowing clues to the outcome of the story such as, “But the air was deadly cold and the wind was like a flat blade of ice on his cheeks” (Page 62). Roald Dahl drops hints ‘deadly cold’ and ‘flat blade of ice’, in the text, to foreshadow Billy's fate. Being that both statements are associated with violence, Billy may be in unavoidable grave danger.

The novel is set during the Bolshevik/Russian Revolution in the cold, isolated region of Siberia, perfectly correlating with the Royal Family’s disconnection from the rest of their homeland of Russia in its darkest hour. Leonka struggles with decades of guilt because of a horrid event that was ultimately inevitable, but must put aside his guilt so that his granddaughter may correctly fulfill the detailed instructions in his will.

Saint Petersburg, the setting of Crime and Punishment, plays a major role in the formation in Fyodor Dostoyevsky’s acclaimed novel. Dostoyevsky’s novels focus on the theme of man as a subject of his environment. Dostoyevsky paints 1860s St. Petersburg as an overcrowded, filthy, and chaotic city. It is because of Saint Petersburg that Raskolnikov is able to foster in his immoral thoughts and satisfy his evil inclinations.
