In the early 1970s the Watergate Scandal rocked America and eventually led to the resignation of Richard Nixon. The Washington Post assigned reporters Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein to the incident, and through their investigative journalism, they traced the Watergate break-in back to Nixon. All the President’s Men showcases Woodward and Bernstein’s investigation of Watergate, whereas in The Final Days Woodward and Bernstein tell the story of the last days of the Nixon presidency. In All the President’s Men and The Final Days, Woodward and Bernstein use third person omniscient narration to show the investigation of the media and the lack of morality of the Nixon administration.
In the paper, The Black Panther Platform: “What We Want, What We Believe” the militant civil rights organization, the Black Panthers, outline their goals. Ranging from communal self-governance to government entitlements, the group focuses on the issue of racism in the United States and places the weight of the problem on the shoulders of White capitalism. In general I would say Richard Nixon was a fairly decent president. During a time where there were many protests amongst the American public (especially the youth) against the troops in Vietnam, Nixon was able to pull the troops out of the war. Nixon also reduced the tensions with the Soviet Union, and helped China join the United Nations. He also helped decrease the amount of racial discrimination by segregating schools in the south. It is a shame though, that those achievements of his are not acknowledged because of the Watergate Scandal.
United States Vs. Nixon President Richard M. Nixon was born in California in 1913. He had a brilliant record at Whittier College and Duke University Law School before beginning the practice of law. During World War II, he served as a Navy lieutenant commander in the Pacific. He was elected to Congress by his California district.
On June 17, 1972 there were five burglars arrested inside of the Office of the Democratic National Committee, which is located in the watergate building in Washington D.C. The robbers were caught trying to wiretap phones and steal secret documents. It turns out that the robbers are connected to Nixon’s reelection campaign. They weren’t sure if Nixon was connected to the burglary, but he attempted to cover it up. For example, he raised “hush money” for the burglars, he destroyed evidence, fired uncooperative staff members.
The Return of Martin Guerre explores the life of Martin Guerre and case of alleged imposture in 16th century France. The film premiered first as a 1982 French film directed by Daniel Vigne before the novel was published in 1983. The author of the book, Natalie Zemon Davis, had served as a consultant and helped write the screenplay for the film. Martin Guerre’s story was based primarily on findings of historical documents and knowledge of his time period and location. When compared to the film of the same name, the book goes into farther detail and is more in depth.
During the 1960s and 70s, America became a nation of issues and controversy. In fact, various groups of people attempted to identify the root problems within American society and the role of citizens in resolving them. During this time, the most prominent groups, still in existence today, were the Students for a Democratic Society (SDS), the Black Panther Party, and the United Farm Workers. In the following documents, there were numerous issues within American society that were discussed, however, one of the most common problems were centered around freedom. In addition, another reason for change comprised of self-reliance.
Destroying the Civil Rights Rodney King and Oscar Grant cases both have racial injustice. Rodney king was in a high speed chase, he was caught; therefore, the officers pulled him out of the car and beat him. A couple of police Officers were detaining Oscar Grant then another officer shot him in the back. The beating and shooting of people, because of racial issues can and will defeat the purpose of civil rights.

Early in his writing career, Kesey discovered that many other authors found the drug, LSD, helped them write “amazing” stories.

In watching the documentary of the Black Panther Party (movement) and how they were form to better the communities around them. The Government officials, FBI in particular infuriated to destroy them in light to keep power among the weaker individuals of society. The individuals happen to be of color (Blacks, Latinos, and Asians). I did however admire how the documentary portrayed black culture at that time. Despite the things that were occurring between law enforcement and the Black Panther party, blackness was promoted and people were proud to be black.
Forrest Gump takes place in modern history of the United States, emphasizing race relations between blacks and whites, disability and southern culture. Beginning in the south during the 1950’s, the movie highlights segregation, and ends with the way African-Americans are portrayed today. Forrest Gump begins with the main character sitting at a bus stop, and it isn’t until Forrest speaks that the audience realizes he has a disability. Throughout the movie Forrest is portrayed as a simple, white southern male from Alabama who has a below average intelligence. The movie takes places during a significant era between the 1950 's and 1980’s, and recalls different events of Forrest’s life, underlining how he surpasses the expectations society had for him.

Newton and Seale attended community college at Merritt and they acquired their exposure to politics by being active in various political organizations. The pair soon realized that the organizations on campus were not enough.
Many of the viewer know the film is based upon events which occurred in real life. During the beginning of the film, in black and white displayed are freedom and land rights banners, riots, and protests. During the 1960’s people wanted to be free, thus the Aboriginal Freedom Rides declaration proceeded. The party rose from the foundations of Malcolm X. The party was much different from other civil rights movements. They went by direct confrontation.
