Fosters theory is that there are parts of every book that are political not that every story is political. I did not realize that To Kill Mockingbird was political until I read Fosters theory. What is the main characters in this book Tom, a black man, who is not a slave but it still look down upon by most people is being treated unfairly because of his color. At this time the government didn’t do anything to try to protect blacks so if people wanted to treat them unfairly or take it vantage of them they could.
