Reading the book Found by Margaret Peterson Haddix, there is a boy named Jonah, his sister, Katherine, and his friend, Chip. Then, Jonah finds a mysterious letter in his mailbox about his adoption, and they all try to figure out who sent the letter. After Jonah finds the mysterious letter, Chip finds out that he was adopted too, just like Jonah. Chip really wants to gather more information about his adoption, but his parents are very reluctant to give him any information. Then, he gets frustrated that his parents won't tell him anything about his adoption, so eventually, Jonah and Chip have to sneak into Chip's attic to find his birth and adoption certificate.
