Fracking is the process of drilling down into the earth before a high-pressure water mixture is directed at the rock to release the gas inside. During this process rare precious minerals are destroyed, and it releases gases that are harmful to the environment. There is a limited amount of fossil fuels that will eventually be depleted within this century. On the other hand, fossil fuel emits 82% carbon dioxide(CO2) into the earth's atmosphere. The gases can stay in the atmosphere thousands of years. According to the EPA, in 2012, U.S. greenhouse gas emissions totaled 6,526 million metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalents, The gas emissions from human activity, build up year after year, and have a direct relationship with global warming. Global warming leads to extreme weather, rising sea levels, plant and animal extinction. Humans are harming the land around them and the planet they live on by using fossil fuels. This can be changed if all the industrial countries reduce their dependency on fossil fuel.
