In today 's society almost everything that we use in our everyday lives requires some kind of energy source. With our reliance on these sources growing exponentially we have started to become more dependent on other countries to supply our fuel. With this dependence countries debt continues to grow and this has a very negative effect on the country 's economy. Energy can be split into two main groups renewable and nonrenewable. The difference between these two is the fact that one we cannot exhaust and the other we only have a limited supply of. Renewable energy is the more environmentally friendly option. The issue is that most countries main energy sources are nonrenewable and once a country turns nonrenewable it is very difficult and expensive to begin using renewable technology. Many countries simply do not have the wealth for the harvesting of renewable resources such as wind, solar, and nuclear. So the question is how do we provide energy to the people, well multiple companies turned to hydraulic fracturing. Today this is one of the most controversial method used to get energy. …show more content…
Hydraulic Fracturing or more commonly referred to as fracking is the process of drilling about 5000 meters or more into the ground, then pumping a mixture of water, sand, and additives into the hole. The pressure of the water creates very small cracks in the rock, which in turn releases natural gas that is then harvested and used as fuel to produce energy. Natural gas fuels nearly 40% of the United States electricity generation. The U.S has the world 's largest natural gas reserves in its shale deposits, making it a perfect candidate for fracking. Fracking, although controversial comes down to the facts, and whether the good outweighs the bad,or vice
