Hernando De Alarcon Hernando De Alcorcon was a spanish navigator of the 16th century. He was born in Trujillo Extremadura. Alarcón 's mission was to provide supplies for Francisco Coronado 's expedition in search of the fabled Seven Cities of Cibola. They became first non-Indians to sight Alta California on September 5, 1540. His family hoped he would become a lawyer, but he told his father he would rather explore the West Indies.
When traveling across the ocean he decided to ration their food to ensure they would not run out and that everyone would survive. He even would eat less to conserve more food. He also persuaded his men to trust the Native Americans when they were near death. His
Cortes, as well as many other explorers during this time, was inspired by the Three G’s: God, gold, and glory. He planned to conquer the new lands for Spain, to convert the natives to Catholicism, and to obtain the riches of the land, mostly gold. Conquistador is basically a record of the last days of the Aztec civilization, as the two groups, the Aztecs and the Spaniards, clash, and the Spaniards ultimately come out on top.
He was outstanding in the new frontier, he was popular with the Americans. Ogden was the youngest son out of his whole family. His dad/father held judgeship. Plus he lead six major expeditions. Ogden’s trappers were so small that 23 of 70 of his men joined the American party.

He gained a better knowledge of the United states. It will talk about everything he went through and everything he seen on his exploration. When Lewis and clark started their exploration conditions were terrible because they were always outside and were having to do everything on their own. Before Lewis and clark there were plans to explore the west, there would of been a first explorer named Michaax but they found out he was a secret agent for the French.

He lived a very simple life after his journeys, and was never being arrogant or bragging, like some other people. He enjoyed being in the arctic, and believed that, “The lure of the Arctic [was] tugging at [his] heart.
The first voyage then led to a second voyage which they sponsored by that led to his discovery of several islands. and a third voyage which they had also sponsored. The third voyage was to discover new territories, on which he discovered series of islands. When they got married they created the Castile of Aragon which that formed the kingdom of Spain. They are also known for completing the Reconquista.
Although he never really accomplished what he what trying to do, Henry Hudson was still a very driven and persistent explorer. He was a leader to many other explorers, and he also helped inspire interest of America in Europe. In Hudson’s lifetime, he set out on four voyages. For three of these journeys he was partnered with England, and for the other, with the Netherlands. Henry Hudson is a great example of an explorer who kept trying even with adversity.
In the early 1990’s Philip-Lorca diCorcia developed a series that has multiple titles, such as “Strangers” and “Trade”, but now known as “Hustlers”. The series is a collection of portraits diCorcia of male prostitutes in Hollywood, California. diCorcia made five trips to Los Angeles; he would drive down Santa Monica Boulevard until he picked up a subject and then he would pay them their “going rate” but instead of exchanging the money for sex he was payed to photograph them. He would take them to a setting that he and his assistant had pre-arranged and would take their photographs. On top of this, he was a respected author who had several books to his name. This made him one of the most-educated people of his time. Worth noting is that his achievements contributed to scholarship because several people and particular to his Indian community looked up to him. Besides, he and other scholars had undergone through different experiences in the hands of the white man. For instance, he mentions the idea of the “great mystery” at the chapel when he was together with other scholars.

Individuals tend to think of a “hero” as a kind person, someone who saves the entire population from a dreadful misery. Hernan Cortes, a Spanish soldier and conquistador, is a hero (in the minds of some) for acting courageously and enhancing Spain’s economy with the gold taken from the Aztecs. But as glorious as he may seem, he also killed many Mexican Natives and Aztecs and caused many unnecessary battles and disruptions for them. Aside from disease, Cortes also majorly disrupted the Aztec culture and religion by converting many to Catholicism. Depending on what facts were taken into consideration throughout his life, he could be seen as a hero, or a villain.
Why Columbus is a Villain Columbus is the basic definition of evil since he ended up achieving all of his goals. Which were introducing new foods and animals to the Western World and bringing gold, but he only managed to obtain this through the most crude way possible. To bring further notice to his wickedness Columbus should be considered a villain because of his involvement in killing off all the natives and how he thinks of them as mindless slaves that are here on this earth to make their lives easier. He tried to sail west for years, but he never had enough money to. ¨He was so determined to fulfill his dream even though he could not afford to pay for such a trip.¨(Document #1) He was determined even though it seemed that he would never get to sail. There were many people who doubted him and said that he would never be able to sail, but he never gave up on his dream of sailing west, and finding Asia. It is a good thing that he didn 't give up.
