Matthew Campos Period 3 #2 Francisco Vasquez de Coronado Francisco Vasquez de Coronado was a very famous Spanish Conquistador. He was a very important explorer and was a famous man in his town of Mexico City. He explored many places and discovered many things. He was also the governor of a Mexican Province. Friar Marcos de Niza returned hoe to Mexico City from a long journey.
1.) Francisco Pizarro was a Spanish conquistador whose expedition led to the conquering of the Inca Empire. He was born around 1476 in Trujillo, Spain. He and his family lived in an area of poverty and he did not even have the ability to read. Francisco and along with Vasco Nunez de Balboa, discovered the Pacific Ocean.
4- Chapter 3: Collision at Cajamarca Throughout history, there were many new developments that allowed the Spanish to conquer the Inca and capture Atahuallpa. Everything unraveled at the Peruvian highland town of Cajamarca on November 16, 1532. Governor Pizarro, who represented the Holy Roman Emperor Charles V, wanted to gain information about the Inca emperor Atahuallpa so he tortured some Indians from Cajamarca and made them spill what they already knew. After hearing that their emperor was waiting for his arrival, Governor Pizarro proceeded to Cajamarca with his Spanish troops. He was able to successfully arrive there by the written letters and pamphlets of detailed sailing directions that were created to provide more accurate information.
Conquistador, written by Buddy Levy about the famous ventures of Hernan Cortes, places the reader in the 16th century, or the era c.1450-c. 1750 ce. During this time, the idea of exploration was spreading quickly, as kingdoms and empires in Europe sought to expand their territory. Portugal, with Spain following after, led the way for exploration as they headed south. Spain, however, ventured west, driven by a patriotic attitude of expanding past their borders. Levy tells the story of Hernan Cortes, originally setting sail from Spain, as he sailed from Cuba to the shores of Mexico in 1519, eager about the discovery of new lands.
In 1542, Juan Rodriguez Cabrillo was assigned to a new expedition by Viceroy Antonio de Mendoza, with three ships under his command - the San Salvador, the Victoria and the third one that until now appears to be unknown. - Cabrillo was an explorer well known for being the first person who navigates the coast of California. His sailing began on June 27th, 1542 from Mexico. The weather helped them to start navigating toward our coast. During the navigation, they made some stop, not a lot of fishermen were found but the ones he met were happy at all with his arrival.
When Christopher Columbus sailed to the Americas he had the plan to sail through the Indian river to get to Asia, but because you aren't able to sail through America to get to Asia he ended up in Hispaniola an island in the Caribbean. In my opinion, I think that Columbus set sail to Asia but ended up in Hispaniola In the beginning the Hispaniola were very kind to the Spaniard, but after a while the Spaniard started to take over their land and eventually killed most of the Hispaniola population and sold the rest as slaves. I say this because In document B (the letter) Christopher Columbus had said that “I took possession of all of them for our most fortunate King...no one making any resistance. This shows that Christopher Columbus had taken over
Vasco Nunez de Balboa is a Spanish conquistador who spent many years exploring the Isthmus of Panama and the surrounding areas in the early 1500’s. Balboa was sent to explore anywhere in the New World as long as another explorer was of had not already explored there. The only other request of Balboa was that he had to give one fifth of the riches he found to Spain. We believe that Balboa’s personal motives in exploring this area were to take over the land and acquire gold and other riches. He would stop at nothing to acquire these riches.
He traveled from Spain and explored the United states. When he was exploring he found the Grand Canyon on accident. Francisco was really looking for the 7 cities of gold. He searched

Francisco Pizarro Francisco Pizarro was one of the many explorers during the Renaissance. He was born on March 16, 1475, in Trujillo, Spain, and died on June 26, 1541, in Lima, Peru. He was the son of Captain Gonzalo Pizarro and Francisca González. He married Quispe Sisa and had one daughter and three sons. The sons were named Gonzalo Pizarro Yupanqui, Francisco Pizarro Yupanqui, and Juan Pizarro Yupanqui, while the daughter was named.
Bernal Diaz was a conquistador who joined Cortés on his missions of the conquest of New Spain. Hernan Cortés was the leader responsible for conquering the Aztec Empire in Tenochtitlan. Hernan was a part of an expedition funded by the king of Spain to spread Christianity and to acquire wealth from various places in the Americas (mainly island countries). Cortés heard of the rumored wealth of Mexico. Cortés and a group of men disobeyed orders to stay in Cuba, and made their way to Mexico.

In the 1500’s spanish explorers called conquistadors started going out and conquering foreign lands. The conquistadors had three motives for what they did, the G's god gold and glory. They wanted gold and wealth for the lands they conquered. The conquistadors wanted to be remember for glorious things they did and they want to spread god's message and convert most people they encountered. Two of the most known conquistadors were Francisco Pizarro and Hernan Cortez.
European explorers and conquistadors during the age of exploration were motivated by three things: God, gold and glory. The two most prominent of the three between 1492 and 1607 were gold and glory. Beginning in 1492 gold motivated many explorers, from Christopher Columbus’s voyage to the New World to the Virginia Company’s colonization of America. Gold is a symbol for wealth, and many explorers soon realized the New World’s potential for wealth. The Spanish’s interest in wealth inspired Columbus’s expedition in the first place, as he was sent to India to trade for spices.
In the year 1519, Spain set sail to be the first ones to circumnavigate the globe. Under the leadership of Ferdinand de Magellan, they were able to accomplish this monumental task by the year 1522, even though Magellan died before they journey was complete. In the article titled “Ferdinand Magellan 's Voyage Round the World, 1519-1522”, we are able to recall the accounts transcribed from the paper-book of a Genoese pilot who wrote detailed accounts about the events that transpired throughout the journey. Around 55 years after Spain’s voyage, the English set out to circumnavigate the globe under the leadership of Sir Francis Drake in the year of 1577. An article titled “Sir Francis Drake 's Famous Voyage Round The World, 1580” was written by Francis Pretty, who was one of Drake 's Gentlemen at arms.
