A young girl Anne Frank and her family have just decided to leave their home and go into hiding from the Nazi regime. They start their journey by going to a woman named Miep’s shop, ten days before the planned departure. They have to wear many layers of clothes on their body’s to avoid being suspicious with a large amount of luggage. When the Frank’s arrive at Miep’s shop, she is there waiting for them and quickly takes them to the secret annex. She locks them in, using a bookshelf as a way to hide the door. After they settle in, they start to evaluate their rooms. Anne shares a room with a boy from another family, Fritz. Their rooms are covered with boxes full of items the Frank’s had sent a while before because of their ten day early arrival. She keeps pictures of her and her family on the wall above her desk. Also, she writes in her diary all of the time. The other family staying in the secret annex, the Van Pels, also had a room. There, there is a window covered by a curtain, and a bed for them to sleep on. They have to go up an extra staircase because their room is on the third floor of the building. The Frank family also has their own room. They can also see out of a window into the garden behind the house, but there room doesn’t have as good of conditions. There, walls have rotten boards, and many of the furniture is old and falling to pieces. The front office is more towards the entrance to the annex, and this is where Anne goes to se outside most of the time to escape form Fritz, because she finds him rather annoying. She also writes in her diary occasionally. Another room in the annex is the attic. This would be the fourth floor of the annex and is really small.
