A tragic flaw is a thing nobody wants to have in common with another. These flaws can range from ignorance, love, or pride. The worst flaw that stands above them all is ambition. Ambition can go hand in hand with the three previously listed flaws but as far as flaws go ambition seems harmless, but it is far from it. In William Shakespeare's Macbeth and Mary Shelley's Frankenstein two characters more specially Macbeth and Victor Frankenstein are one in the same through their actions and because they both, through ambition, have the taste of power, the life of power, and the downfall due to power. Up until this point other than their original flaw of being ambitious their stories have had such different occurrences. Victor had great intentions and wanted to help the world and become something, his downfall begins as soon as the creature is created. Macbeth had strictly power on his mind and his ultimate downfall begins when he slaughters the innocent family of Macduff. They truly relate in the way most people with flaws in stories end up, and that is dead. Macbeth is murdered by Macduff and Victor dies silently on the boat. Both of these men lost the one who were closest to them in friendship and in love. Elizabeth and Henry met their end at the hands of Victor's creation, so in reality they met their end at the hands of Victor. Lady Macbeth supposedly kills her self off stage and Banquo is murdered by hired killers hired by Macbeth. The parts of their downfalls that both play well together is with them dead the world is a better place despite them both thinking they were making it better. Victor's ambition to create and discover leads to death and destruction for him and his family. Macbeth's ambition for power and fulfillment led to death and destruction for him, his family, and most everyone who came into contact with him. Their downfalls were harsh but it was the only
