The Romantic period was a movement during the late 18th century that emphasized on one’s emotions and imagination. At a certain point, Romanticism took a much darker approach in order to thrill the reader. The darker approach is commonly known as gothic literature. Authors used Gothicism in their work by providing mystery, villainy, murder, and the supernatural.
