What comes to mind when you hear the word Frankenstein? Well you are probably thinking a monster that is big and green. Frankenstein by Mary Shelley is actually nothing like the monster you are thinking of. Frankenstein is a science fiction novel and was written in only 7 months. After reading the book, we watched the old movie of Frankenstein. There are a lot of differences between the two. The old movie is nothing like the Frankenstein book. The book started out slow with Walton’s letters. The book takes place in Geneva and Ingolstadt where Victor goes to school. Victor’s family is from Geneva. There are several characters throughout the book: Victor, Alphonse, Caroline, Elizabeth, William, Creature, Walton, Justine, and the DeLacy family. …show more content…

Victor comes up with this idea of creating a creature so he could bring his dead mom back. No one knows about the Creature and it takes Victor two years to create him. The creature wanted Victor to make him a companion and if he did not follow through then the creature said something bad will happen on his wedding night. Caroline wanted Victor and Elizabeth to get married. That was her only wish before she died. Elizabeth is Victor’s adopted sister. They got married and the night of the wedding, Victor hears a scream and runs up to the bedroom where he sees Elizabeth strung over the bed dead. The Creature also knows how to talk and communicate. He is also self taught just like Victor. In the old movie the creature gets Elizabeth but does not kill her. The movie also names Henry as Victor and Victor as Henry. Instead of no one knowing about the Creature everyone knows the Creature is being created. The Creature does not talk and he does end up killing a little girl named Maria by throwing her in the pond. Everyone is mad at the Creature for killing an innocent little girl. In the book, he actually saves Maria from drowning but gets shot afterwards. No one liked the Creature because of his
