Have you ever wondered how far someone could possibly go to fulfill their dreams? In the story “Frankenstein”, written by Mary Shelly and Gris Grimly, Victor Frankenstein dreamt of creating a creature, as a result of his mother’s death. His ultimate goal was to turn the dead into the living. Even though Victor’s creation was made solely from body parts, the creature is a human. Victor’s creation is most evidently a human due to its natural instincts. For instance, the creature states, “I was benevolent; my soul glowed with love and humanity.” (chapter 2, page 83) This shows that Victor’s creation felt deep love for others, and love for humanity. These two inalienable instincts make a human, a human. Most non-humans can’t comprehend these intense emotions. The creature is also able to verbalize its own feelings, just like humans do. Similarly, the creature also feels intense levels of solitude. As an example, Victor’s creation claims, “but am I not alone, miserably alone?” (chapter 2, page 83) This implies that the creature feels emotions of loneliness. Every human has experienced some type of solitude, and the creature is experiencing it as well. That may be so, but it is important to consider that the creature was made from human parts and organs. Hence, both the creature and humans have the exact same parts. Although Victor’s creation may not look like a human on the outside, it has the same organ and skeletal structure as a human.
