Mary Shelley wrote the gothic novel Frankenstein in the 18th century. In the novel, Victor creates a pernicious creature, Victor represents a man’s pursuit of knowledge. Knowledge can be a blessing and a curse. In the novel, Victor’s knowledge leads to destruction when other knowledge can also lead to something great. Mary Shelley described Victor as someone who has been cursed by his own knowledge, at first his knowledge harms him by continuously staying up and devoting everything to his studies but eventually it just brought danger to the people he loved and then himself.
