By “romancing [his way through] the 60’s” (“Music Review”), Frankie Valli is still one of the greatest music artists today. Frankie Valli was influenced by Frank Sinatra and Rose Murphy because of his love for jazz and soul music which inspired his songs that are still popular today. Francesco Stephen Castelluccio was born on May 3, 1934 in the rough streets of Newark, New jersey into a working class family. His father, Anthony Castelluccio, was a barber and his mother, Mary Rinoldi, was beer company employee. Francesco had two older brothers, Bobby and Alex, with him being the oldest. In 1967, he started to lose his hearing from otosclerosis, which is the hardening of the bone in the middle ear. He suffered until he had surgery in 1980 which then restored most of his hearing. That same year, he suffered a devastating loss when his daughter, Celia died in a car accident. Six months later, his youngest daughter, Francine died from drug an overdose. Valli’s music has inspired the Beach Boys, Bees-Gees, Barry Gibb and Brian Wilson. Barry Gibb once said that, “Frankie Valli to me has become one of the hallmark voices of our generation. From the deepest emotions of his real voice to the power of his falsetto, he created a style that we all still strive to emulate”
Over the years, Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons were apart of the “most popular and critically acclaimed” TV show, The Sopranos. Their music could be heard during the show or over the credits. They have also traveled the world in various touring productions. In 2005, the story of Valli and the Four Seasons hit Broadway in the musical, Jersey Boys.
