Franklin College values their student to excel as a person and in the work field. The college’s mission statement is “Franklin has taught me three main characteristics: excellence, leadership, and service. These three characteristics that I have learned helped developed to be the person I am now. Franklin College wants their students to understand and learn excellence. Excellence is being your best self on a regular basis. My freshman year I decided to join Tau Kappa Upsilon where I have grown in excellence. Tke has made me want to be the best I can be in everything I do. Tke really worries about grades and they have taught me that academics are first and far most important. They check grades every semester and midterm. If one does not have above a 2.5 gpa, they must go to three office hours a week to help bring their grade up. Leadership is a person that has a since of direction to lead a group to a certain goal. Since I have been a Franklin College I have played for the football team. Freshman year I was just trying to get myself recognized, but unfortunately I had gotten injured that ended the season for me. My sophomore year I was doing all right and just practicing and going through the motions cause I did not get to play. My junior year finally clicked, I got some playing time, but I began to be a leader and help the underclassman. I helped out with the starters as much as I could and was a leader to the younger guys. I would help tell them to run a certain route if they did not know the play or just tell them to keep their head up when they were having a bad day. Football has taught me leadership and I believe it shows the coaches how I have grown. When people think of football leaders they think of the captains on the team. Little do people know there are many leaders on a football team they are behind the
