Franklin D. Roosevelt was the 32nd President of The United States. He was a democrat and won four presidential elections. He came into office during one of our countries greatest depressions. He spent his time in office trying to mend our economy and give more rights to workers. He also led America through World War II. In my opinion he was one of our most influential presidents. In the year 1929 our country hit one of its lowest points with the Great Depression. In 1993 Roosevelt closed all banks for several days so that they could pass reform legislation. In that same year the Emergency Banking Act was introduced. An act that would allow banks to issue additional currency on some assets. People returned their cash to the banks and a largest one-day percentage price increase occurred in the stocks. This act allowed our country to have some stability during the Great Depression. The first being the Federal Emergency Relief Administration which allowed loans to be given to states for relief programs. The second was the Civilian Conservation Corps, this was an important program because it employed 3 million men in manual labor jobs in just 9 years. Agricultural Adjustment Administration was a program that was beneficial to farmers around the country. It increased the generation of income by farms by 50%. The Public Works Administration was created and they built $6 billion dollars worth of large public structures resulted in America’s biggest construction effort. Lastly is the Tennessee Valley Authority which helped Tennessee Valley, a city that was particularly affected by the Great Depression. In 1935-36 the Second New Deal was established by Roosevelt which established the Work Projects Administration, the Social Security Act, and the National Labor Relations
